FEEL THE PAIN!!

We keep hearing Darrel Steinberg and Karen Bass say "Feel the Pain" all you people that didn't go along with us Progressive Liberals.  I do feel the pain, the pain of frustration and embarrassment for all responsible Californians.  I just had a thought regarding the state budget and the inability of the elected elite to try and come up with a balanced budget that does not include raising more revenue.  Privatize the budget!  On my radio show Sat. "California Small Business Talk Radio" I read a portion of a report from the Reason Foundation.  This report laid out a budget and future actions that could be taken to maintain a sound fiscal policy.  This is the private sector at its best.  Had this budget and actions been taken seriously we would not have the sever problems we have today.  Could we possibly have competing budgets from conservative think tanks and liberal think tanks.  We have a dysfunctional legislative system in California, why not try something new. It could not be any worse.  Our representative don't know what they are doing!  They do well when they have plenty of money to spend and can act irresponsible, however, when logic and responsibility are called for, oh, and leadership, they truly do not know what to do.  Lets get people that do. We could then go to a part time legislature and two year budget. Possibility?  What do you think?

PLAN B ?

There appears to be many smiling faces in Sacramento these days regarding the California budget.  All appears to be fixed ! If I were the politicians I would be hammering out plan B now. If all the the pieces of this mirage don't come together the people are going to be asking about the fall back plan.  Personally I don't believe the voters are going to go with tax increases, regardless of what Sacramento is saying. If the economy continues to worsen people are going to vote their pocket book. Even the bay area and Los Angeles deep down have to realize sooner or later higher taxes and more spending cannot work.  My understanding is that California's government is still growing!  Sacramento had better hunker down now or they will again be in a panic, and we all should know what happens when legislation is written under stress.   Wake up Sacramento!

Small Business Revolution!

What If :  Hundreds of thousands of  businesses closed for one day ?  Would this get the attention of California Politicians?  Washington Politicians? The political process representing people is broken and the powers at be are not listening. They need a wake up call:  The life's blood of politics is money.  Shut it off.  Send a message that we must change the business climate in this state, do whatever it takes to generate jobs, and reclaim our position as NUMBER FIVE in the world economically. We are currently number eight.  California has declined and the US is not far behind if we allow the current situation to stand without challenge.

Business must challenge the direction we are taking.  In the past we all just bend and change with whatever political winds are blowing. This is different.  We have never had an administration that is set on punishing capitalism.  If you do not believe me then ask yourself why would a president do nothing to help value in the stock market and business in general, matter of fact, Obama has villainized business owners and the people that make things happen.  He sees all who attempt to make profit as villains. The same holds true for the legislative body in California.

Fuzzy Logic ?

Attention all drug smugglers, dealers, cartels, runners, you are hereby given notice that you are required to register with State Board of Equalization and obtain a sales permit.  Your customers will now be required to pay  a tax of $50.00 per oz.  You will be required to maintain records for a period of five years. These records shall record the name, address and phone numbers of all users and growers.

Anyone participating in the black market or violating state law will be vigorously pursued and prosecuted.  This will be based upon our ability to pay law enforcement, so, your cooperation in paying taxes is extremely important. Based upon your willingness in the past to follow State law we wish to thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Assembyman Tom Ammiano, San Francisco has introduced a new bill "Legalize Pot".  It's back again.  Federal law  ignored, neighboring states not figured into the equation.  But, you cannot let a good crisis go to waste! Folks, these are the people running our state. We are now fight drug cartels on our border.  Is California ready for the coming crisis? I doubt it.

Want more fuzzy thinking?  Why in the world would Californians want to give any party free reign to do whatever they want with our money and lives.  This state is not governable.  The minority party needs to be strengthened, not weakened..  We still have not solved our problems even with some repubs hanging tough.  But, I am sure if the POT BILL were to pass many Californians will be euphoric.

Sacramento's San Anreas fault

What if Gov. Arnold would have hung tough as a Republican?   "Governor Says GOP must ease tax stance" Page A3 in the BEE this morning. Arnolds quote: Even though it maybe is against your principles or philosophy, you still have to go, because that is what the people want you to do" I personally believe the people of California elected Arnold to get us out of this mess which has been created by a one party system. California wants a leader, leaders lead, they don't follow!  How this budget was approved should give everyone a window into politics and the payoffs that are required to Dems and Repubs alike.  Folks, this is our money.  Do you really believe the budget has been solved?  It will be interesting to see how the ballot is manipulated to confuse the electorate and if the electorate truly approves a one percent tax increase and other issues.  What if they don't ?  Is there a back up plan? My opinion is that we will be back to the table in a few months anyway.  Many people are wannabe leaders, they soon find out that everything is grey, not black and white.  Well, this is why it is difficult to find real leaders. Sometime leaders don't even realize they are leaders until a particular event.  The key is an unshakable belief in deep within yourself.  Sometimes you don't realize it is there until an event calls you to action.  This is called core belief and we currently do not have this in Sacramento.  We have not been guided out of the woods, yet. IT WAS AND IS TIME FOR BOLD ACTION AND LEADERSHIP.  CALIFORNIA COULD LEAD THE COUNTRY OUT OF THIS RECESSION, INSTEAD OUR POLITICIANS ARE FOLLOWING WASHINGTON.  WE WILL REBOUND FASTER AND STRONGER WITH DECISIVE ACTION.  CUT BACK UNTIL  WE TRULY HAVE A BALANCED BUDGET WITHOUT NEW TAXES.  REDUCE TAXES ON BUSINESS AND GIOV EINCENTIVES TO ATTRACT BUSINESS.  CREATE AN ENERY SURGE, CREATE JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.   It can be done, it takes vision and leadership! Arizona ocean front property anyone?

MEDIA STEARING

The Bee attempts to steer our thinking without giving the facts on both sides.  What do you expect when they utilize articles from the LA Times, NY Times etc. Get the facts by reading articles by experts such as Dan Walters. Dan knows the players and the system, however, you still must think for yourselves.  Example: Dan makes the point that whatever they do does not correct the "Structural Deficit", in fact it leaves it intact.  Isn't this what the Repubs are saying?  Why create more tax burden for the population when in fact it does not fix the problem that got us to this point, mandated spending.  Dan goes on to say that Arnold and Legislative leaders are working on tax reform with recommendations due in April.  Well, why should the Dems go along with anything if the pressure of the budget is no longer a factor. Isn't April a little late? We must be sure that the Dems spending ways do not resume after the settlement.

Now is the time to make necessary changes or the opportunity will be lost!!!  Hang Tough Repubs.  You are not the reason we are at this point, regardless of what the Bee and the unions would have us believe.  Arnold, stand up and don't be a girly man!  In fairness, Arnold tried and was rejected early on by Californians.  So voters you also are at fault!  But Arnold, you should have continued to educate the public!  That's why I voted for you, I did not think you would give up so easily.  I thought you had a thicker skin.

I also heard that Texas legislators are in session 120 days every two years and then go home.  Does Texas have the same problems as California?  I believe they are attracting business and do not have the financial mess the we have in California.  Could it be that many of the legislative members have real jobs and are more in touch with reality?

Stand Up!

100,000 small businesses in California joined an organization that was not a status quo organization. This organization would create a never before seen pro worker, pro business, entity.  The face of politics could be changed forever in California.  Why is this needed? California has gone from number five (5) to number eight (8) in just a few years. This has been the result of failed government and incremental ism.  When I hear the governor say, with pride, that we are number eight in the world it makes me want to, you know.  There is a way that small business can change Sacramento, however, it will take commitment and spine, long term.
I talked with Eric Hogue briefly on the Capital Hour the other day and did not have time to explain my position.  He made the comment that Sacramento will not listen and does not care.  This is true. So, how do we change this?  They don't care because they have no respect!!  They look down on small business as a cash cow that needs a pat on the rump once an a while.  If you want respect you have to demand it and earn it.  Small business must operate from a position of power not weakness.

What if ?  Small business joined together and developed pro employee medical, educational, training, etc. programs.  Educate through company meetings the pros and cons of legislation and what elected officials are doing with their money.
